Using the variety of ability stars with the asteroids can present a far greater challenge than the game's young art style would suggest. Things get even cleverer once ability stars are introduced, with stars that can destroy nearby asteroids or even shoot out a plunger to tow a star across the screen. However, once the asteroids start moving, things take a turn toward the clever as you have to time your lines to avoid their movements. There are asteroids to avoid, but they pose little difficulty early on. At first it appears to be a simple game of connect the dots, as you draw lines between stars to create constellations. Space Holiday is one of the most deceptively fun games to pop up on mobile devices. > Download 'Demons' Score' from the App Store There are hints of a fantastic rhythm game hiding in Demons' Score, but the generally lacklustre soundtrack, repetitive pacing and expensive DLC are a perfect storm to rightly keep many gamers at bay. However, they also add up quickly, and aren't enough to justify the high cost of entry. On the one hand, the in-app purchases songs take away from the repetition and make the game a lot more fun. Beating a boss allows you to purchase them for a hefty real-money price, offering a new costume for the game's scantily-clad heroine and a much-needed new song. Most notable is the repetition, which has you playing through the exact same song and tap sequence dozens of times to reach each of the more entertaining boss encounters. Unfortunately, Demons' Score is marred by some unforgivable issues. The songs do a good job of matching the game's dark fantasy setting though, with 3D visuals that are among the top tier for mobile gaming. The tunes this time skew more towards typical epic fantasy fare, which works, but there aren't exactly any catchy tunes that you'll be humming after the game is turned off. The only downside is that the levels go by quickly, though perfectionists will spend more time with the game to collect every last lum. You will also be rewarded with prizes outside of the game, as collecting lums can unlock 15 iPhone wallpapers, which you can set as the background image of your device. What starts as simple jumping then adds the helicopter hover, running on walls, and eventually attacking enemies for 40 fun carefully crafted stages. It's usually only a small course correction, but it makes a huge difference by allowing far more flexible and satisfying level layouts than would be possible otherwise.Īs you progress you'll unlock new abilities along the way. However, while other mobile platformers have their characters constantly running to the right, Ubisoft has given Rayman some basic AI to smartly turn and change direction when the level needs it. Like so many iOS platformers, Jungle Run sees Rayman constantly running, with your taps on the screen simply controlling his jumping.
